The link just notes that one of the deal-clinchers for the hold-outs in the ridiculous fight for speaker of the House was the promise of no clean raising of the debt-ceiling: it will be held hostage.
I had to laugh at some idiot who made one of the many nominations of McCarthy commenting on the "diversity of thinking" among Republicans carrying on their debate (sic) --as opposed, she implied, to the lack of same on the other side of the aisle. HAHHAHAHAHA: on one side, Matt Goetz and Lauren Boebert ; on the other, Jim Jordan and Marjorie Taylor Green: uniformly moronic, the lot. None would know an idea if it hit them square in the face.
Who you are laughing at and trying to ridicule are the many, many voters who elected a Republican majority to the House. I do not think laughter at Republican voters is appropriate or productive.
??An idiot is an idiot, elected or not, Anon. Someone who thinks that conflicts among republicans we saw this past week represent a debate about ideas is an idiot. I didn't say anything about voters, but now that you mention it, if you voted for someone who thinks Jewish space lasers are causing California wildfires, or someone who thinks that God makes the laws, that the US Constitution establishes a Christian nation, you are an idiot.
I too am greatly saddened as a former student of his at JMU. He is the reason I now work as a Professor though I can't hold a candle to him. RIP Dr. Rosser.

ReplyDeleteI am desperately saddened to learn of the death of Barkley Rosser and will write to the family this night.
ReplyDeleteDesperately saddened.
I wrote a 5 page letter to Marina, and will write another more considered and longer now for the family.
ReplyDeleteBarkley was a gem of gems. I will miss Barkley terribly.

ReplyDeleteThis is terrible. He was writing about Herb just a few days ago. He was the heart and soul of this blog. I am in mourning.
ReplyDeleteKevin:
ReplyDeleteI hope you can keep Econospeak going. You are right, Barkley was the heart and soul of Econospeak.
