When Less is More

Dean Baker in the Guardian today:
Shortening the workweek would create jobs and stimulate the US economy – and give workers the benefits other countries provide.

What amuses the Sandwichman is the predictable bullying froth from opponents of shorter working time. A study in social pathology.

  1. Am I correct in thinking that Baker's plan would also have the benefit of delaying the actual expense to the Treasury by moving the stimulus cost from the front end, as it was in the case of the "bail out" funding, to the back end in the form of reduced tax collections?
