"Let us begin by committing ourselves to the truth, to see it like it is and to tell it like it is, to find the truth, to speak the truth and live with the truth." Richard Nixon's nomination acceptance speech, Miami, August 8th 1968
Certainly an interesting juxtaposition of phrasing. The truth? Who knows that? The truth is often nothing more than that looking glass phenomenon of what I think that you think that I think, etc. In politics, the hand maiden of economics, the truth is only what is popularly believed at a moment in time.
I am sorely disappointed that no one, not Obama nor Bob Schieffer, simply asked McCain why his positions are so totally unlike his 20+ years in the Senate? How do you get to the truth if you don't ask for it?
